Yes the kids are all back in school, and while our weekends are filled with kids sports and activities- that doesn’t mean that we don’t make time to take in a great film when there is one playing. So here is a peek ahead at the movies coming out that are geared to kids for the fall season!
Toys in the Attic
This is the story of happy vs.evil toys that have been stored together in an attic in Prague. It is another one of those animated movies that is a bit on the scary side. I think our family will probably skip this one. (Opens Sept 7, rating: PG)
Finding Nemo 3D
Love this classic- and if your kids are too young to have seen the original in theatres- this should be on your don’t-miss list! This was the first film we ever took one of our kids to see at the theatre- so it is especially touching to me. I remember I kept taking my eyes off of the screen so that I could just watch Kyle and marvel in his reaction to the story. (Opens Sept 14, Rating: G)
Dracula, who operates a hotel for monsters, plans a birthday party for his 118-year old daughter Mavis. (Open Sept 28, Rating: PG)
This is a classic Tim Burton film- about a boy who tries to bring his deceased dog back to life. It looks a bit dark and scary- so this would likely be better for older kids. (Open Oct 5, Rating: PG)
The first film on this list that is not animated- it stars Victoria Justice taking her little brother trick-or-teating for Halloween, and the chaos that erupts when she loses him. While my young girls love Victoria Justice- this movie is really geared for teens. (Open Oct 26, Not yet rated)
This is the film that we are most looking forward to seeing this fall. A funny movie involving our kids favorite video game characters, where Wreck-It Ralph decides that he doesn’t want to be the bad guy anymore. It looks like it will be great for kids of all ages! (Open Nov 2, Not yet rated).
Rise of the Guardians
This movie looks to be very promising- a film where Santa Claus, The Easter Bunny and The Tooth Fairy band together with Sandman to battle an evil spirit called Pitch! (Opens Nov 21, Not yet rated)
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
We saw a preview to this film recently (when my husband and I ventured out on a date to see Batman) and it looks spectacular. So far, I have not been able to entice my kids to read the Hobbit series, but maybe seeing this film will draw them into the characters and inspire them to tackle the books too. (Opens Dec 14, Not yet rated)
