Homemade pop tarts are like little pie-pockets of deliciousness! They are perfect for a special breakfast treat or after school snack- and your kids will love the flaky crust that is SO much better than the store-bought variety! Here's how to make homemade pop tarts!
How to Make Homemade Pop Tarts
You have to start with the right tool for the job- and to make homemade pop tarts you'll need this mini pie mold This is an affiliate link: MomOf6 earns a commission if you purchase, at no additional cost to you. ! It does a great job of sealing the edges of the tarts so that the filling stays inside while baking.
After preparing and chilling the dough, you'll roll it out on a floured surface, and using the bottom of the pie mold, cut out the rectangle shapes.
Place one of the rectangles in the non-fluted side of the pie mold, and brush the edges with egg white.
Add 2-3 teaspoons of filling to your tart, and then place another rectangle of dough on top.
Flip the top of the mold over and press the two side together to seal.
Place the pop Tart on a parchment-lined baking sheet and use a knife to place small slits in the top to allow steam to escape.
