Pinteresting: I Pinned It and I Tried It!

So how many of you are in LOVE with Pinterest? Okay, put your hands down. Now how many of you have actually made or tried something that you pinned to one of your pinboards? Maybe a fun craft idea for the kids or a recipe that looked delish? Anyone?

Well let’s get started then girl! It’s time that we start doing something with all of these great ideas that we are finding, besides just gazing at them longingly! So I’ll go first… and show you this super easy chocolate and salted caramel mug cake that I made today with my kiddos… and afterwards I’ll show you how you can link up one of your pins that YOU made, or even guest post here on Momof6 with your own “I Pinned It and I Tried It!”

For the mug cake, you’ll need: all purpose flour, sugar, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking powder, salt, an egg, skim milk, vegetable oil, and 2 salted caramels. You’ll mix all of this together in a small bowl and then pour the batter into a microwave-safe coffee mug.

Then you’ll want to drop your salted caramels into the middle of the batter. Since I was unable to find salted caramels at the store, I just took two regular caramels, and then pressed them into some sea salt that I had sprinkled on a plate. (Tip: the next time I make this cake, I’ll first cut the caramels into small pieces so that they will melt better inside of the cake!)

I dropped the caramels into the center of the batter… and they sunk before I was able to snap the picture! And then microwaved the mug for only 1 1/2 minutes on high.

I mean…who knew that you could actually “bake” a cake in the microwave? Let me tell you, this cake was easy-peasy-lemon-squeezie! It really only did take a few minutes to mix up and bake!

My kids LOVED it! Its tasted fantastic- like a molten chocolate cake from a restaurant… and it was so simple that my son Spencer thought it would be a fun thing to make for a birthday party activity! Hmmm…..

So, fellow bloggers…. have you ever pinned it, tried it, and posted about it? If so, link up below! And I am looking for a few guests posts for this theme as well- so if you are interested, please send me an email! Just please make sure that your blog post includes a link back to the original inspirational pinned post, not just your pinboard. And please sure that you post only includes your own original content- not the exact recipe or crafting steps taken from the original blogger’s post. A summary with your own shots of you trying the pinned project are perfect!

I have this one (or one similar, anyway, don’t remember if it had caramel or not) pinned but haven’t tried it yet; glad it turned out for you! I have a recipe for “power balls” that I pinned, have made twice and am incapable of actually getting to turn into balls. It’s tasty anyway. And a friend of mine made it and loved so I think it’s my problem, not the recipe. Oh, and hi form SITS!
