Get Your Life Organized! Calendar and To Do Lists- Bonus Ideas and a Link-Up!

Get Your Life Organized Boot Camp

I hope that this week’s Momof6 Get Your Life Organized Boot Camp has inspired you to get the most out of your calendar system and look at the way in which you keep your to do lists. Both of these tools are “mission critical” to running an organized household! And I have a few more tools to share with you that help me to stay organized:

Keep a Running Grocery List

I have a clipboard that I keep in my kitchen command center that holds my running grocery list. A few years ago I created this list as an Excel spreadsheet, and I organized it by the aisle of the store that I walk through first, second, third, and so on. Every time that we run out of something or are running low, I add it to the correct column on the grocery list. Best of all? I’ve even gotten my husband to do the same!

This running grocery list helps me HUGELY on Sunday nights when I plan my grocery shopping trip. (And I will be talking about menu and grocery planning next Monday).

Some Apps I found to be Helpful for Calendars and To Do Lists

To-Do Lists App

This cool app for the Mac desktop ($3.99) allows you to easily create to-do lists which then auto sync to your reminders in iCal, and to your reminders app on your iPad and iPhone. I love this program for its simplicity. And once I add items to my list on my desktop, I like managing my to do list on my iPad while I am working. I do believe that this new system is going to make my to-do lists paper-free!

WeatherCal

This is the simplest little thing that has made me so happy. WeatherCal (99 cents) is an app for iCal that automatically pulls in the weather forecast and puts it on your calendar! How cool is that?

One More Bonus Idea

On Sundays I try to spend a little bit of time planning for the week ahead (a subject that I will go into more depth on next week). Last year I wrote a post that talked about my Weekly Planning Ritual.

Show Off Your Calendars!

I cannot wait to see what you have done with using calendars and to do lists to get you gain control over a busy life! Please link up here with a blog post that you’ve written about participating in the Momof6 Get Your Life Organized Boot Camp. And I would love it if you grabbed this button to use in your post:

So I would love to hear from you…. what is your favorite calendar system? Please leave a comment and share!

Wow! Finally one thing I’m already doing right! I started a grocery list like this when we moved here 8 yrs ago and have been using it regularly ever since. It makes going grocery shopping so much more simple when things are already written down and you don’t have to go through everything to see whether it’s needed or not!

We could be friends :) I love all your tips. I’m all about going paper free (but having the option to print if I want!) I’m looking for a to-do list app now.
