How to Have a Stress Free Start to the School Day!

Stress Free Start Badge

There are two things that I am not looking forward to as we start the new school year. #1- Having to get the kids up early in the morning again. They are finally to the point where they either sleep in or they hang out quietly together downstairs in the morning… and now that we’ve mastered that, it’s time to switch up the schedule and get them up early again. Ugh. #2- The morning rush- not only do we have to get up earlier- but we need to be on the move right away. Breakfast- check, Lunches made- check, backpacks loaded- check, teeth brushed-check, hair combed- check, shoes on- check…. and run out the door! That busy time of the day is enough to get Moms yelling- and it’s not even 9am yet! So in a quest to have a stress free start to the school day…. here are a few video tips for you (and don’t worry, it only takes 2 minutes to watch!)

So are you ready to get the kids out the door in the morning without yelling? What pushes your buttons the most? The dawdling or the silliness?

My fifth grader is a pro at getting up for school and this year was no exception. She fell back into the schedule (even though its 30 minutes earlier this year) as if she’d never had a summer break. I only wish i could say the same thing for my Kindergartner. She cries at the bus stop and is somehow fine all day…

Oh it is so hard if you have one who doesn’t want to go! My youngest was like that for a long time….. and it was heart breaking! Just do your best to stick with it- keep to the schedule, and don’t cave in by driving them to school which only confirms that there is something fearful about the bus (and leaving Mom)! Hang in there Melissa!

My mom never had to yell at me, so I can’t understand what all the fuss is about. However, I enjoy listening to your videos: they are short, concise, and you always come across so friendly, efficient and pretty (btw, I love your white top). Please keep up sharing your tips.

I am glad to hear that your Mom never had to yell to get you moving in the morning! And thanks for the compliments!
