Nothing is better than seeing your kids proud of themselves!

Nothing is better than seeing your kids proud of themselves!

Hooray!…. it’s the weekend again! Which means I now have the opportunity to sleep in, pamper myself with a little extra time to get ready, maybe head on over to the local bagel shop with a newspaper to linger over a cup of tea before I head to the gym for an invigorating workout….

Well…. not exactly….

Because instead I will be doing something even better! I will be sitting in the stands- cheering my kids on at all of their events. In any given fall weekend, I will attend 4 soccer games, 1 football game, 1 gymnastics class, and 1 horseback riding lesson. And you’ll certainly be able to recognize me because I will be the proud Mama with a smile plastered all over face, trying not to embarrass my kids by yelling dumb things like “Go Jackie-Joe-Joe”, or “Tackle that guy Spencer-Bear!”. (I’ve come to realize that cutesy pet nicknames for your kids have NO place on the sports field).

And while my younger daughter is flipping over the bar or tip-toeing down a balance beam only 3 inches in width…. or my older daughter is practicing her trotting expertise on a gorgeous pony named “Charm”… I’ll be the one clutching the railing in fear, worried that something might happen, but trying to cover that up so that my girls will never know how worried I am.

But the greatest moments of the weekend will come when one of the kids accomplishes something that makes them so proud of themselves. Last weekend my older son’s soccer team had just come off of a tough tournament the weekend prior where they hadn’t won a game, and were facing a tough opponent. But his team played like champs- dominating possession of the ball for the entire game (when you are a soccer Mom words like “dominating possession” just start to roll off of your tongue!), and they won! I was so impressed by how hard my son played and his ability to deliver a ball to a teammate with such precision. Earlier in the day I had watched my son Spencer make a beautiful corner kick that his best bud then headed into the net for a goal. Sweet! And as proud as I am of them…. watching my kids feel proud of themselves is just the best Mom-moment ever!
