Why Do You Read Blogs?

Why do YOU read blogs?

It’s kind of a funny question, isn’t it? I mean, obviously you read blogs because you’re here, right? And I am guessing that you spend some amount of your precious “me” time online reading what other people have written because their blogs inspire you, or teach you something, or make you laugh. At least that is what keeps me coming back to visit my favorite blogs again and again (and I certainly hope that is what continues to bring you back to visit Momof6!) So today I thought I would share with you a few of my favorite blogs that I visit regularly….

A blog that makes me laugh and that I can relate to….

ragebutton150x150 Why Do You Read Blogs? Kristen Howerton from Rage Against the Minivan. I found Kristen’s blog a few years ago through a blog roll on an adoption blog that I was reading… and I felt an instant connection to Kristen. Each of our families are comprised of both biological and adopted children, both of us struggle with the issue of balance in our lives- how to juggle work and writing and kids…. and raise them the way that we believe is right. But what I love best about Kristen, and why I continue to read her blog, is the way she makes me laugh and think. Whether she is making me die of laughter with her stories of parenting woes (like this one of a simple walk to the beach that went horribly wrong) or the way her guest post “What I Want You to Know” series makes me always pause and consider other points of view in a situation. If I only have time to read one blog each day- this one is it.

And yes, I had a chance to actually meet my “blog idol” in person while at BlogHer, but it didn’t seem the right time to confess my adoration of Kristen and her blog while singing with her in a roomful of other bloggers at a 3am karaoke session. I just couldn’t find the right opening between belting out “Love Shack” and groovin’ to Kei$ha’s “Tik Tok”. I mourn the opportunity lost, baby.

A blog (or two) that inspires me and makes me want to cook, bake, and create

I adore Cheryl from Tidy Mom- and find her posts to be both inspiring and beautiful. And the fact that she shared this post on the Best Ever Chocolate Chip cookie means that I will forever be in her debt. And her “I’m Lovin’ It” posts makes me drool each week- and provides plenty of Pinterest fodder for my pin boards!

But I can’t stop at just one blog here…. because I also love Laurie from Tip Junkie. I had the pleasure of meeting Laurie in person for the first time at Bloggy Boot Camp Philly this year- and it just made me adore her that much more! What I love best about Tip Junkie are her round ups. Looking for an idea on how to make candles? Laurie gives you 10. Want to give your child’s teacher a great back to school gift? Laurie rounds up 20 of the best gift ideas and provides links to the tutorials. Tip Junkie is a great resource!

A blog that teaches me….
