One of the coolest unexpected perks of blogging is getting to make some new real-life friends who become pretty important to you. One of these friends in my life, is Amanda. We’ve roomed together at blogging conventions and at Education Nation. We’ve danced until our feet have throbbed, thrown back many a good meal together, and we’ve shared lots of details on the crazy that is our daily lives.
Me, Amanda, and Roo- BlogHer ’12
So when Amanda asked me to join her at this year’s 5K Walk in NYC for the National Kidney Foundation…. I started emailing my in-laws to see if they could come out and help me that weekend so I could be there. Because my good friend Amanda suffers from a form of chronic kidney disease, which she manages right now with daily medication- but she knows that this is not the case for everyone who suffers from chronic kidney disease, and she knows that this may always be the case for her. So she walks to help raise money for the foundation. Um… and maybe also for the chance to meet Nick Cannon.
Yeah- because he’ll be there walking with us (probably not hand-in-hand or anything)…. because he too suffers from chronic kidney disease.
So, If you have space in your heart and money in your wallet , I’d love it if you could make a donation by clicking here: Support Team Nick. And if you’d like to read more about Amanda’s diagnosis (or just follow her awesome blog parentingBYdummies)- well then head on over there and read up!
Because good friends support each other, you know?

Thank you so much for being there with me! Dancing the Cupid Shuffle in the middle with NYC along with complete strangers woulda been way less fun if you weren’t there!
