When kids are little… it is much easier to handle the whole tooth-cleaning process… because YOU just do it all for them! They park themselves in front of the mirror with their cute SpongeBob toothbrush and sparkly candy-flavored kids toothpaste and smile at the themselves while you take care of the acutal brushing (all while singing some sort of song, right?). But as they grow into tweens, they become much more about “doing it themselves”, and they really don’t want Mom supervising. Or checking.

They hate the checking.

Because at least half the time I have to send them back to do a better job. Or ask them to allow me to “help them out” and do it again. And we all know that for them… brushing teeth isn’t fun. There’s no points awarded- no little character dances when they’ve met the goal… this just isn’t an app! But we can make it more enjoyable… and help them to do a better job at the same time. Give the a GADGET! Kids LOVE gadgets!

The cool folks at Waterpik sent our family a new Aquarius Professional Water Flosser- and the kiddos all think it is nifty.

Okay… no one uses the word nifty anymore. They actually said “awesomesauce”, and “#cleanalicious” (do anyone else’s kids speak in hashtags even when they don’t know what a hashtag really is?)

But honestly- when they use the water flosser before brushing- their teeth are so much cleaner. I never need to send a tween back for “Brushing Round 2″ before we leave for school. And that make me a happy Mama….. my job is done.

If you are spending too much time monitoring your kids flossing and brushing success (or lack thereof), and think that the Waterpik Aquarius Professional Water Flosser might help your family, head over to the Waterpik site and use the code FREESHIPWP660 which is good for free shipping on any purchase thru March 31, 2014.

I hated the flossing when I was in my teens because my teeth were narrowly spaced, and I just could not get it in there. Now I have learned to deal with it, but I am still considering getting a Waterpik or Philips Airfloss.
