Growing Lavender {Spring Flowers Dreaming….}

Growing Lavender

This week we received just enough rain to melt most of the snow that remained in our yard… and we even had an afternoon in the 50′s when I was able to venture outside without wearing anything made of down or wool. All of this gave me a slight peek into the warmer weather that is just a few weeks (or so) around the corner, and got me to start dreaming about spring flowers. Specifically- I can’t wait to get started growing lavender again.

Last summer was the first time that I planted lavender in all of my flower boxes on my front and back porch. I was successful with it in my garden where it grew into these huge and hearty plants that return every year. So I wanted to give it a try in our flower boxes- just so that I could run my hands through the plants each time I walked in and out of our house, and inhale the scent. It’s such a small and simple thing to do, but taking a moment to “smell the lavender” was a little pick-me-up that I did for myself all summer long.

Lavender Growing Lavender {Spring Flowers Dreaming....} One great thing about lavender, is that the deer did not eat it at all… a rare thing around here!

So what are you most looking forward to growing this spring? Please leave a comment below and share!

I have two large vases out front – maybe I can grow some lavendar this year too? Is it difficult to grow? That would smell so awesome coming in and out of the house.

It’s not difficult at all! (If it were, I wouldn’t be able to do it!). They just need plenty of sun and you have to remember to water them if they are planted in containers vs in the ground. But they are heavenly!
