It’s summertime- which means it is the perfect opportunity to have a few girlfriends over (preferably while your husband has the kids over at the town pool and then maybe out to dinner afterwards!) and indulge in a delicious treat or two… which mean that you MUST HAVE the recipe for a perfect margarita. Lucky for you, I am here to share it with you!
Step 1: Prepare Your Own Homemade Lemon-Lime Mix
Is this step a bit of a pain? Well, yes it is… but it is important to do if you are making the perfect margarita! This means you need to root around in your basement, your pantry, or maybe the top shelf of your linen closet, and find that juice extractor that some well-meaning Aunt gave you as a wedding gift all-those-years-ago. Once you’ve located this desired appliance, you’ll need to extract 2 cups of fresh lemon juice, and 2 cups of fresh lime juice. Your kitchen will smell delicious, and your mouth will already be watering for these tasty margaritas!
Next take 3 cups of water and 2 cups of sugar and combine them in a large saucepan. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves, bring to boil, and then remove from heat. Allow the syrup to cool.
Combine your 4 cups of freshly-squeezed juice with the cooled simple syrup in a large bowl. NOW you’re ready to begin.
Step 2: Prepare the Margarita Concoction!
In a pitcher, mix 1 cup of gold tequila, 1/2 cup of triple sec, and 1/2 cup of brandy. Then stir in 3 1/2 cups of your homemade Lemon-Lime Mix.
Step 3: Prepare the Glass
This is really a two-step process. You’ll want to take a slice if lime, cut it in half and then nearly in half again to make a wedge. Use the wedge to slide it around the rim of your glass, coating the entire rim.
Next, dip the glass rim into a plate of Kosher Salt, twisting and turning it to coat the rim completely. A perfect margarita provides for a taste of salt in every sip!
Fill your salted glass with ice.
Step 4: Delivery!
Pour your margarita mixture over the ice in your beautifully salted glass and enjoy!
This post is a part of the Blacklisted from the PTA Birthday Celebration! My good friend Lela wrote this funny and fantastic must-read book that I reviewed last summer here on Momof6: (This One’s for the Moms) called “Blacklisted from the PTA”. What? You’ve still not read it? Well then please leave me a comment here telling me that you would LOVE to read this book, and I will draw one winner for either an old-fashioned (autographed!) paper copy, or a new fangled Kindle copy of this book. The choice will be yours! But leave your comment before the end of the day Friday (7/27)!

I don’t think that Lela made a video trailer for the book- but she should! And yes, it is an even more delicious read with a margarita in hand!
I did, I did make a book trailer! Thank you. That was painful to make, but also fun. I have that kind of relationship with video
