Links to Love: Springtime 2012 Edition

We’ve had a week of such lovely warm weather here in the Northeast, that we all have “spring fever”! The kids were able to wear shorts and tee shirts to school most days, and we spent most afternoons playing outside for as long as possible, with all of the kids from our street! It’s that magical time period when the weather is nice, but spring sports practices aren’t really in full swing yet, which allows us extra free hours each day just to play. Ahhhh…….

So, in that spirit, here are a few ideas from around the web to celebrate the beginning of spring!

Something SO cool to watch: The Decorah Eagles

Last year my entire family was thrilled to watch the video cam of the Decorah Eagles in their nest way high up in a tree in Decorah Iowa. This year Mommy eagle has laid 3 eggs, and just yesterday the first egg was pipped (I’m not sure if I am using that term correctly), which means the baby eagle has made a small hole in the egg which is the first step in hatching. Full hatch takes place 24-48 hours after pip…. so any moment now folks!

Something Delicious to Bake..

I am in love with these sweet bite-sized mini-cheesecakes from Bee in Our Bonnet. Ashleigh made them in three flavors…. raspberry, chocolate, and caramel. I think raspberry would be my favorite. How about you?

Something Fun to Make…

I adore bottle cap necklaces… they are easy and fun to make, and my girls love to make them too. So when I found this great tutorial and free printables for bottle cap necklaces from Kiki Creates featured on Craftaholics Anonymous…. I knew I had to bookmark it for a rainy spring afternoon!

Something Cool to Decorate…

Ellie from Less Cake More Frosting created this beautiful spring printable inspired by a Charles Dickens’ quote from the novel “Great Expectations”:

“It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold:

when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade.”

As Ellie says, “Doesn’t that just describe a March/April day to a tee?  That feeling of getting into a car that’s been in the sun.  Or grabbing a window seat at a restaurant.  It’s the best!”

Ellie- I couldn’t agree more!
